PORTRAITS AND FIGURATIVE

As much as I enjoy painting vintage neon road signs, I like to paint other subjects and styles.
Desert Rose II is one of many
portraits I painted. I'd be happy to paint a portrait for you. Just email me a clear photo (or several). One person or as many as you would like in costume, even nude.
I'd price a portrait based on the size, and your budget. Send me an email and tell me what you've been thinking about. You might be surprised to discover how cooperative I am. Sent email to me at: gucwaart@nym.hush.com

'Jeannie Reclining'
I painted Jeannie because I liked how she looked. I hired her to pose nude, and invited her to bring along her husband, and she did. The painting below is another painting of her.
'Jeannie Reclining' acrylic on canvas, 24" H x 48" W, $2000.

I painted Jeannie here on a Masonite panel using a image from the original photo shoot. I invented the background on both paintings. Most of this painting was painted using an IWATA airbrush. I hand cut stencils for the background. I paint subjects like these simply for my own pleasure, unless I receive a request from a collector.
'Jeannie Swimming' acrylic on board, 36" H x 36" W, $3000.
'BEN' acrylic on canvas, 30" H x 40" W.
After painting 100s of vintage neon paintings, this is just another painting where I had to step out of the box a bit. I will continue to paint other subjects including portraits and figurative works. I would very much like to find a quality gallery that would represent these works. As of this writing, 'Ben' is available. I would also be willing to negotiate a selling price you are comfortable with. Give me a try.

'BeN' acrylic on canvas, 30" H x 40"W, $3000.

Here is my self portrait, a bit of dancing neon native Americans, and my wife, Katie, in a swim suit just in from a swim. i had no reason to paint the subject except to satisfy my need to paint on that particular day.
'Self with Katie' acrylic on canvas, 24"H x 24"W
Having a keen interest in ancient history, I began researching the early Sumerian culture. They were the first civilization to create an alphabet, and wrote on clay tablets. Many of those tablets were discovered by archeologists in ancient Mesopotamia. Intrigued, using the ancient images of the Anunnaki, I decided to paint this painting, just for fun.

'Anunnaki' acrylic on canvas, 30"H x 40'W, $3500.

As a kid I was a big fan of comic books. I would ride my bike a mile or two over to Eddie's store to buy the latest edition of Superman or Blackhawk comic books. Somewhere along the way MAD magazine appeared. I began to collect each one. Although this painting resembles MAD's featured character, "ALFRED E. NEWMAN." I made just enough physical changes to keep me out of trouble with the editors.
'ALFFIE WITH BLACK HAIR' acrylic on panel, 30"x 30" (framed), $1100.
Drawing or painting the figure is one of my favorite activities. This one is a charcoal quick sketch (30 minutes), using a live model. I'm always looking for models to draw from. Are you ready to let me immortalize you?

I gave this painting of Jeannie the title: Giving Thanks. As I go through each day, I often have to take a few minutes to appreciate the moment, the day, my surroundings, my love ones, and life in general.
'Giving Thanks,' acrylic on canvas, 24"H x 30"W, $2500.
A few years ago I painted a portrait of my wife. When I met her she was 24 and I was 26. We're still together after several decades, in fact, today she walked up to me, held my hand, and looked into my eyes and said, "Jim, you're a good guy . . . you're really a good guy." I kissed her.

'KATIE' oils on masonite, 28"H x 22"W, NFS

Caravaggio was a 16th century Italian painter. He painted 'Boy with Basket', as shown in my painting to the left. A more contemporary painter, the American abstract expressionist, Jackson Pollack, gained his fame with his 'drip' paintings. My purpose with this painting was to combine examples of both painters in one painting. In the future I may paint additional paintings contrasting famous artists with different styles.
'Caravaggio Meets Pollack,' acrylic on canvas, 40"H x 48"W, $8500.
Feeling like painting a portrait, I came across this character who I thought would be a good subject for my painting. I pulled out one of my business cards and handed it to him.
"Excuse me, sir. I'm a fine art painter looking for my next portrait subject. You would be perfect."
And so this is the result of that encounter with Orrin.
Would you like to be next?
